What we're looking for

An engineering leader with experience putting powertrains in production. You have a systematic engineering approach that supports unstructured innovation at times and at times disciplined high volume production. You have experience hiring and managing teams and are a fast learner when it comes to different markets and applications as well as adoption of the latest and greatest technologies in analysis, design, manufacturing processes, etc.

Responsibilities

• Own product specifications by continuously working with product managers and customers
• Drive techno-commercial decisions and provide feedback to business team about unit economics and feasibility
• Make product mechanical architecture decisions leveraging team’s talent
• Fully understand physics and working principles of each component and interface in the system
• Track key technical opens and help engineers to lock-in design concepts
• Understand high risk decisions and plan tests or collection of proof points to avoid costly late design or architectural changes. Own up high risk product decisions.
• Lead product design cycle starting form spec review, PDR, CDR, MRD to production ramp
• Ensure engineers follow a scientific approach to design and verify each step in the process via analysis, test or by requesting data from suppliers
• Evaluate supplier capability for component supply
• Perform detailed drawing reviews
• Develop and foster a rigorous engineering culture within the team; mentor engineers
• Predict resource and timeline requirements for running projects
• Help hire the best engineers to join Conifer

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Mechanical or Engineering (or related)
• Strong technical background in CAE, mechanical design principles and design for manufacturing, and testing of powertrains
• Over 5 years of powertrain product design experience
