As the Buyer – Metals, Magnets, Gears, Forging and Casting Components, you will be responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing the supply of metal components critical to our EV powertrain systems. You will work closely with our engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure the timely procurement of high-quality casting materials, while optimizing cost- efficiency and ensuring alignment with production schedules and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in sourcing casting components, a strong understanding of supply chain management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
Component Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for metal components (such as aluminium, steel, magnets, and magnesium etc) based on cost, quality, and delivery performance. Procurement Management: Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure competitive costs and timely deliveries of casting components for the EV powertrain systems. Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with casting suppliers, ensuring effective communication, problem resolution, and continuous improvement. Quality Assurance: Work with the quality team to ensure all casting components meet the required specifications, performance standards, and industry regulations. Inventory Management: Collaborate with the supply chain team to forecast demand, monitor inventory levels, and ensure components are available to meet production schedules without excess stock. Cost Control: Monitor market trends and material costs to ensure the procurement of casting components stays within budget and contributes to overall cost optimization efforts. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, production, and R&D teams to ensure timely availability of casting components for prototype builds, testing, and mass production. Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement strategies to streamline the procurement process, reduce lead times, and improve cost efficiencies in the casting supply chain. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of orders, contracts, and supplier communications. Report on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance to management.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in sourcing and purchasing metal components for manufacturing industries (automotive, aerospace, or related fields preferred). Strong knowledge of gears, magnets, forging and casting materials, processes, and suppliers, with a focus on metals like aluminium, steel, and magnesium. Proven experience negotiating with suppliers and managing supplier relationships. Solid understanding of procurement and supply chain management best practices, including inventory management and cost control. Familiarity with quality standards and testing procedures for metal components in automotive or industrial applications. Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams. Experience with procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms). Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
