An engineering leader with managing complex hardware and software projects .
You have a systematic engineering approach that supports unstructured innovation at times and at times disciplined high volume production. You have experience hiring and managing teams and are a fast learner when it comes to different markets and applications as well as adoption of the latest and greatest technologies in analysis, design, manufacturing processes, etc.
Responsibilities
- Own up four key areas of product development up to beta phase: timelines, quantities, budget, and resource allocation. This includes powertrain products as well as stationary application motors.
- Break down each program into meaningful milestones and create a taskforce against each milestone
- Help engineering/ops teams to trickle down milestone goals to deliverables from each member in the taskforce and ensure (a) no orphan deliverables exist within the plan and (b) all players fully understand their deliverables
- Understand key assumptions and technical and supply risks at each stage of the project and plan to derisk project early on
- Organize reviews for key technical opens
- Create and support execution of product test planning
- Create efficient engineering process for product development and innovation to cover:
- Engineering process is followed during design phase (material verification, component testing, DFM, DFA reviews, DFMEA)
- Version control / PLM for drawings, assembly instructions, PPAP are all version controlled and synced
- Manage change control after first release (ECO’s / PCO’s)
- Bug reporting and resolution against spec
- Lead product demonstration missions to ensure good quality working prototypes are delivered to customers
- Create and foster a team culture to succeed again and again
- Constantly communicate program updates to leadership the broader team
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience of hands-on experience in Design / Manufacturing Process Development for power products
- Keen understanding of motor/powertrain product attributes such as torque, power, and voltage ratings, power conversion efficiency, NVH, etc
- Manufacturing experience at scale and understands hardware and software aspects of product development
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
